The way your scenes crash together, I had to watch it twice. I don't think that's a bad thing - that first viewing being so explosive that I only keep the residual details of the plot and a confident grasp of your style means that I have a pretty strong memory of your art. I came back to WE LOVE COLD WAR a few times because it was so interesting.
I noticed you chose for the music in this animation to be much more ambient and in the background as opposed to the music being one of lead characters in WLCW. That animation felt like an anime intro, and this felt like an episode. I think that the sound design of WLCW made me process more of the details from that animation, and the details of this one blended together more. Was this purposeful? I would guess maybe so, as the flash of logos in the beginning inject "loose cannon cops" before I read what it actually said.
This animation has a very unique method of delivery, and I believe that, while I'm an older internet user now, this new blending-together sort of dissemination might actually make your work more interesting and catching to the younger demographic who generally are much faster paced than people like me if you can post this kind of thing in the right places.
I guess I'm saying that if this were an 18 minute episode on Nicktoons, I would probably sit down and shut up and love it.
I appreciate the work put into this and will go and watch the next one that I missed immediately. I hope you continue to make more work like this and evolved from this into the future, and I'll be right there with you.
Fantastic animation. Really an indicator that there's a beautiful art style out there that I'd love to see more of. Do I see some Metal Gear series inspiration for some of those moments?
Oh hey, yeah alot of people who saw this for the first time thought they were COD references but I've never played COD lol, most of em are indeed MGS references, such as the horseback stinger scene in Afghanistan and I directly sampled a sound byte from MGS3 in the intro bit of music!
Surfed golden era Newgrounds as a kid. Finally decided to make a proper account in adulthood, searching for community and engagement. Perhaps I'll find some inspiration, or at least distraction.
